Maternal Mental Health

Supporting Mothers to Thrive Mentally & Emotionally

Nearly one billion people globally live with some form of mental health challenges, and 80% of them reside in low- and middle-income countries. Women bear a particular burden, especially during the perinatal period — yet up to 90% of those who need support are not receiving it.

Common perinatal mental disorders — including prenatal and postpartum depression, anxiety, and somatic disorders — are the leading complications of pregnancy and childbirth globally. About one in five women experience postpartum depression or anxiety, making the EmpowerMums programme essential.

EmpowerMums is designed to address the unique mental health needs of mothers. Our mission is to provide comprehensive support, resources, and a sense of community to empower mothers to thrive both mentally and emotionally.

How We Help

Our Approach

Three core pillars form the foundation of the EmpowerMums programme — each designed to meet mothers where they are and walk alongside them toward wellbeing.

01

Mental Health Support Groups

EmpowerMums offers facilitated support groups where mothers can share their experiences, challenges, and triumphs in a safe and confidential environment. These groups provide a platform for emotional expression, peer support, and mutual encouragement.

02

Educational Workshops

Our programme includes a series of workshops focused on mental health education, stress management, self-care practices, and parenting skills. These workshops aim to equip mothers with practical tools and knowledge to enhance their wellbeing.
